Former England manager Sam Allardyce believes Jay-Jay Okocha, one of Nigeria’s greatest footballers, had the talent to play for top Premier League clubs like Manchester United or Arsenal.
Okocha made a significant impact at Bolton Wanderers from 2002 to 2006, where he helped the club avoid relegation and dazzled fans with his flair and creativity.
Allardyce, who signed Okocha, expressed surprise that bigger clubs didn’t pursue him, especially on a free transfer.
He praised Okocha’s ability to use his tricks effectively and recalled his crucial goals, including a stunning winner against West Ham.
Despite earning the Premier League Player of the Month award in November 2003, Okocha’s brilliance wasn’t fully appreciated in England, though he remains a legend among Bolton fans.
