Joao Felix has joined AC Milan on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, but Milan do not have an option to make the transfer permanent.
The reason behind this is that Chelsea paid €52 million to acquire Felix from Atletico Madrid last summer, making Chelsea's demands for a permanent deal too high for Milan.
Additionally, negotiations to include a purchase option would have been too time-consuming to finalize before the deadline.
Milan paid €2 million for the loan, with the potential for another €2.5 million in add-ons tied to Champions League qualification and the team winning a trophy. Milan will cover Felix’s salary until the end of the season.
Felix had a productive first half of the season at Chelsea, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists in 20 appearances.
