Why Neymar and Mbappe had issues at PSG

Brazilian star Neymar has opened up about his strained relationship with former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate Kylian Mbappé, attributing the tension to Lionel Messi's arrival at the club in 2021.

Neymar, who joined PSG in 2017 for a record €222 million transfer fee, initially enjoyed a strong partnership with Mbappé, leading the team to their first Champions League final in 2020. However, Neymar revealed in a candid interview that their camaraderie began to falter after Messi joined PSG.

According to Neymar, Mbappé's behavior changed, driven by jealousy over Neymar's close friendship with Messi. "He didn’t want to share me with anyone," Neymar remarked. He described Mbappé as a "Golden Boy" and likened their early bond to a brotherly relationship, but tensions arose as team dynamics shifted.

Neymar admitted that while they had disagreements, the arrival of Messi marked a turning point in their connection.
