Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo has criticized Otto Addo’s competence as Black Stars head coach following the appointment of German tactician Winfried Schäfer as the team’s technical advisor.
Schäfer, an experienced coach and AFCON winner with Cameroon in 2002, was brought in to help rejuvenate the team.
Polo argued that hiring a technical advisor proves Addo’s incompetence. He questioned why Addo remains in charge despite failing to qualify Ghana for AFCON, suggesting he should have been sacked instead. Polo believes Schäfer will effectively take over the coaching role.
The Black Stars are set to face Chad and Madagascar in March for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Ghana is currently second in Group I, tied on 9 points with Comoros after four matches.
