Tiger Woods has withdrawn from this week’s Genesis Invitational, citing that he is “still processing” the death of his mother, Kultida, who passed away on 4 February.
Despite initially planning to compete, Woods admitted he is “not ready” to return to golf.
The 15-time major champion has not played a PGA Tour event since The Open at Royal Troon in July 2024, following injuries from a 2021 car accident and back surgery last September.
He did, however, participate in a December event alongside his son, Charlie.
Woods remains the tournament host of the Genesis Invitational, which was relocated from Riviera Country Club to Torrey Pines due to Los Angeles wildfires.
He hopes to attend later in the week and expressed gratitude for the support he has received.
