The Black Stars defeated Madagascar 3-0. This win boosts their hopes for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana scored first with a free kick in the 10th minute. Thomas Partey headed the ball into the net after it was lifted over Madagascar's defense.
Madagascar tried to equalize and looked threatening. Rayan Reveloson took a long-range shot in the 23rd minute, but it missed. Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, was not troubled.
Ghana played a low-pressing game and moved quickly. However, they remained elusive for Madagascar’s midfield. Baggio received a yellow card in the 25th minute for a strong challenge on Jordan Ayew.
The halftime score was 1-0. Both teams had equal possession, but Madagascar sought an equalizer.
In the second half, Ghana created many problems for Madagascar. Mohammed Kudus attempted a shot that went wide. Jordan Ayew also missed his chance shortly after.
Despite Ghana's dominance, Warren Caddy from Madagascar tried to score but failed. The combination of Thomas Partey and Jordan Ayew struck again in the 53rd minute to double Ghana's lead.
Jordan Ayew delivered a perfect corner kick that Partey headed home powerfully.
The Black Stars continued to press forward. Captain Jordan Ayew dribbled past three defenders before assisting Mohammed Kudus in the 58th minute. Kudus scored with a powerful shot into the net.
This marked Jordan Ayew's third assist of the match.
Ghana controlled possession as they approached the 69th minute. They made their first substitution in the 71st minute, bringing on Iñaki Williams for Antoine Semenyo after Madagascar made three changes.
Madagascar’s El Hadary Raheriniana tried to make an impact with a curling shot from outside the box in the 74th minute. Benjamin Asare saved it easily.
With seven minutes left, Ghana held onto their comfortable 3-0 lead against Madagascar. The match ended without any change in score, securing Ghana's victory and placing them at the top of Group I with a five-point lead in World Cup qualifying.
