World 5,000m silver medallist Mohamed Katir has been handed a four-year ban for tampering after falsifying travel documents during an investigation into missed doping tests.
Katir, 26, was already serving a two-year suspension for missing three doping tests in 12 months.
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) found he altered his travel itinerary, boarding pass, and booking confirmation to mislead investigators about his whereabouts on 28 February 2023.
His four-year ban will run concurrently with the previous sanction, extending his suspension until February 2028.
Katir, who earned World Championship medals in 2022 and 2023, will miss upcoming events, including the World Championships in Tokyo and Beijing. The AIU stressed the importance of investigating tampering in the sport.
