Zinedine Zidane set for managerial return after five-year hiatus

Zinedine Zidane has been away from football management for four years since leaving Real Madrid for the second time, despite receiving multiple job offers. However, his long-awaited return appears likely in 2026.

The French national team manager position, which Zidane has long coveted, is now within reach after Didier Deschamps announced he would step down following the 2026 World Cup.

Zidane is reportedly the frontrunner to succeed him. Given his desire to manage France, this opportunity seems a natural fit.

It remains to be seen, however, if the French Football Federation will approach Zidane for the role.
