An al-Qaeda-linked group, Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM), has claimed responsibility for a major attack in Mali's capital, Bamako.
The assault, which targeted a military training school and the military airport, resulted in significant casualties and damage. JNIM, one of the most active militant groups in the Sahel region, has stated that it inflicted heavy losses.
This is the first major attack in Bamako in years, highlighting the ongoing instability in Mali despite previous international and local efforts to combat the insurgency.
