Algeria: Somali Speaker Arrives in Algiers for Arab Parliament Summit

Algiers, Algeria — Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur, Somalia's Speaker of the House, arrived in Algiers on Thursday. He is there for the Arab Parliament Speakers' Conference. Leaders will discuss regional challenges and the Palestinian crisis.

Nur leads a high-level delegation from Somalia's federal parliament. He was welcomed at Houari Boumediene Airport by Algerian counterpart Ibrahim Boughali. Members of the Algerian Parliament and Somali Ambassador Yusuf Ahmed Hassan were also present.

The summit will open in the coming days. It gathers heads of legislative bodies from across the Arab world. This year's agenda includes regional security, economic cooperation, and Palestine conflict discussions.

Nur plans to deliver a keynote speech during the conference. He will highlight Somalia's views on Arab unity and parliamentary collaboration. He will also express support for the Palestinian cause.

Somalia aims to strengthen diplomatic ties in the region. This effort is part of its broader goal to increase international engagement. During his visit, Nur will hold meetings with senior Algerian officials. He will also engage in talks with other parliamentary leaders attending the summit.
