The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) has launched an investigation into allegations that veteran goalkeeper Patrick Matasi may be involved in match-fixing.

Matasi, 37, who plays for Kenyan Premier League club Kakamega Homeboyz, has represented Kenya internationally over 30 times, with his last appearance coming in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in October 2025.

The probe follows the circulation of an undated video, which the BBC has not independently verified, allegedly showing Matasi discussing influencing the outcome of a league match.

Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula defended the player, stating that Matasi was surprised by the footage and denied any involvement in match-fixing.

The FKF has confirmed that it will work closely with FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and other relevant bodies to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.

"We uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards match manipulation and remain committed to maintaining the integrity of our competitions," the FKF said in a statement.

Matasi has continued playing for Homeboyz, keeping three clean sheets in as many games since joining the club last month. Shimanyula emphasized that the club would take action only if concrete evidence emerged or if the FKF formally raised concerns.

The FKF has urged individuals with credible information to come forward, assuring confidentiality in handling any reports.
