In Kenya, police used tear gas to disperse small groups of protesters in Nairobi as a new cabinet was sworn in.

The protests, which began as anti-tax demonstrations, have now evolved into calls for President William Ruto's resignation.

Businesses closed, and public transport was disrupted as police blocked access to the city center.

President Ruto attempted to calm public anger by appointing senior opposition figures to his cabinet, including four key ministries.

However, the move has been criticized by protesters who see it as perpetuating political elite deal-making.

Despite heavy security, the protests were smaller than previous ones, with several arrests made. More than 50 people have died since the demonstrations began in June.
