**Monrovia** — Internews Media Activity Partners recently honored Madam Lien Bach. She is the Chief of Party for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The recognition was for her significant contributions to Liberian media.
President Donald J. Trump issued an Executive Order halting USAID operations worldwide. He accused USAID of misusing American tax dollars. This decision affected all USAID sponsorships globally.
Madam Bach led the USAID Media Activity Project with Internews. The honoring ceremony included six media organizations, such as FeJAL and LMDI. Other participants were Local Voices Liberia, Youth Media Action, Talking Drum Studio, and CEMESP.
A surprise farewell ceremony took place in Monrovia before her departure from Liberia. The organizations presented her with a symbolic gift featuring their logos and messages of appreciation. Representatives shared experiences working with Madam Bach during this emotional event.
They reflected on the challenges and successes of the media project she led over the years. Many expressed gratitude for her nearly seven years in Liberia.
"You've done a lot for us at Local Voices," said Atty. Alpha Daffae Senkpeni, Executive Director of LVL. "We are forever grateful for your mentorship." He emphasized that her leadership style fostered collaboration within the media sector.
"She played an instrumental role in shaping USAID's media activities here," he added. Atty. Senkpeni noted that Madam Bach enhanced many Liberian journalists' skills professionally and technically.
Madam Lisa Tenneh Diasay, President of FeJAL, praised Madam Bach's dedication to the media community in Liberia. "Your exemplary leadership has earned you many commendations," she said, expressing deep appreciation despite the sadness of her departure.
Varmah Kamara from Youth Media Action reflected on their engaging discussions with Madam Bach. "You taught us how to prepare reports professionally," he noted, hoping to keep in touch with her after she leaves.
Mr. John Kollie, Executive Director of LMDI, commended her role in strengthening electoral debates in Liberia. "You empowered us to elevate our debates," he stated confidently about maintaining high standards moving forward.
Madam Torwon Suluteh Brown from Internews praised Madam Bach’s passion for improving Liberia's media landscape. "Our good conversations won't stop just because you're leaving," she assured everyone present at the ceremony.
