Malawi: NBM PLC Dedicates June to Celebrate SMEs

The National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc is celebrating Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in June. SMEs are vital to the country's economy.

During this month, NBM's CEO Harold Jiya and division heads will visit selected SMEs. They aim to strengthen relationships and understand their needs better.

Akossa Hiwa, NBM's Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, shared the bank's plans. They want to recognize SME banking customers for their contributions. This recognition coincides with SME Day on June 27.

Hiwa stated, "As a key financial partner for SMEs, we will actively participate in this year's SME Day celebration." The activities will honor SME customers and enhance relationships throughout the month.

This year's theme is 'Business for MSMEs: Connecting the Entrepreneurs.' The celebration will end on June 27 with an SMEs market day featuring over 50 entrepreneurs showcasing their products.

Two weeks ago, NBM plc sponsored 50 SMEs with K10 million for the International Trade Fair in Blantyre.

Mike Siliya, Founder of Status Furniture and Office Supplies, expressed gratitude to NBM plc. He said that every entrepreneur needs a strategic partner. He believes NBM has proven to be that partner by providing essential banking facilities like loans and overdrafts.
