Sylvester Namiwa, the Executive Director of the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI), is back in the spotlight. This time, he targets State House Chief of Staff, Prince Kapondamgaga.
Namiwa's letter from June 2, 2025, demands President Chakwera remove Kapondamgaga. It shows selective outrage and misinformation. He ignores a key fact: Kapondamgaga was cleared by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) regarding Sattar-related allegations.
Yes, cleared. Not suspended or under review—cleared. Namiwa previously praised the ACB's report when it implicated others. Now that it clears Kapondamgaga, he dismisses it as irrelevant. What happened to your consistency, Mr. Namiwa?
You cannot have it both ways. Either you trust ACB investigations or admit you're a bitter political actor pretending to be a civil rights advocate.
Namiwa's motivations are not neutral or noble. Malawians see through this; he has ties to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). He continues to work closely with DPP's propaganda machine at Page House in Mangochi. His funding is questionable and his public actions seem like party-political warfare disguised as civic advocacy.
Namiwa’s activism resembles partisan warfare in disguise. His pattern is clear: if you oppose the DPP, you become a target. This isn't about corruption; it's about power and his desire to regain influence under a DPP government.
If Namiwa truly cares about accountability, why hasn’t he addressed the K145 million DPP donation scandal? Why does he ignore all DPP-related corruption cases but react strongly to unrelated allegations?
Malawians are tired of hypocrisy. If Mr. Namiwa wants to engage in politics, he should run as a DPP candidate in 2025 and stop pretending to be an activist.
For now, let the President focus on governance while allowing the ACB to work independently. If Kapondamgaga has been cleared, demanding his dismissal is illogical and malicious—it’s persecution, not oversight.
Mr. Namiwa, Malawi deserves better than your tired act. Be a watchdog for the people or admit you're just supporting the DPP.
The choice is yours.
