Morocco has successfully halted 45,015 people from illegally migrating to Europe since January 2024 and dismantled 177 migrant trafficking networks, according to the country's Interior Ministry.
In addition, the Moroccan navy has rescued 10,859 migrants at sea.
The increasing migration pressures are attributed to instability in the Sahel region and porous borders.
Morocco remains a key launch point for African migrants attempting to reach Europe, using the Mediterranean, Atlantic, or scaling fences into Spanish enclaves like Ceuta and Melilla.
Strengthened cooperation between Morocco and Spain has been crucial in addressing these migration challenges.
