President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC). This includes Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari and board chairman Pius Akinyelure.
The announcement came from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday morning. He stated, "President Tinubu removed all other board members appointed with Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023."
Mele Kyari was first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari. He was reappointed by President Tinubu in 2023.
The president has now appointed a new board, which includes a new GCEO. The new 11-member board features Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as non-executive chairman.
Adedapo Segun, who replaced Umaru Isa Ajiya as chief financial officer last November, is also on the new board.
