Nigeria's state secret police have detained tailors and their sponsors for making Russian flags waved during anti-government protests in northern states.
The protests, driven by discontent over economic reforms by President Bola Tinubu, saw some demonstrators brandishing Russian flags and calling for military intervention.
Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, called the display of foreign flags a "treasonable offence" and promised serious action against those involved.
The Russian embassy has denied involvement.
The protests reflect frustration with Tinubu's policies, which many Nigerians view as dictated by Western institutions.
