Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has urged an end to protests after seven people died and over 700 were arrested during demonstrations against the rising cost of living.
Tinubu defended his economic reforms, which included removing a petrol subsidy, and claimed the protests were hijacked by looters.
Organized via social media, the protests, inspired by Kenya's successful anti-tax campaign, demand government action on economic hardships.
Despite Tinubu's call for dialogue, protesters, using the hashtag #EndBadGovernance, continue to rally, with some in Kano waving Russian flags and seeking international support.
Tinubu emphasized maintaining public order and condemned the looting and violence.
