Hundreds of passengers were stranded at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday due to a strike by airport workers protesting a planned 30-year lease of the airport to India's Adani Group.
The strike, triggered by concerns over job losses and the opaque nature of the deal, led to significant flight delays and cancellations.
Workers agreed to return to their duties after being assured that the deal wouldn't proceed without their approval.
Meanwhile, operations are resuming, but many travelers, including Zimbabwe’s football team and others, remain stuck.
The proposed lease, worth $1.85 billion, aims to upgrade the airport but faces legal challenges and criticism over potential corruption and privatization concerns.
