Samuel Eto'o, president of Cameroon’s Football Federation (Fecafoot), has successfully appealed a $200,000 fine imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for an ethics breach.
The ruling, which found Eto’o guilty of violating ethics by signing an ambassadorial deal with betting firm 1XBET, has been overturned after his lawyers argued that only CAF’s independent ethics committee had jurisdiction over such matters.
While CAF has not commented on the appeal, Fecafoot is reportedly conducting its own ethics investigation.
Meanwhile, Eto'o is also seeking to overturn disciplinary issues at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as he prepares to contest a seat on CAF’s executive committee.
His tenure as Fecafoot president has been marred by controversy, including allegations of match-fixing and leadership disputes.
