Abu Dhabi, UAE — The UAE has condemned a terror attack in Mogadishu, Somalia. The attack occurred on Sunday and left several military recruits dead. Dozens more were wounded.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement. They denounced the "criminal acts" and rejected all violence. The ministry expressed condolences to the Somali government and victims' families.
Authorities confirmed multiple casualties at a military base. Young recruits were waiting to register when the attack happened.
The Al Shabaab group claimed responsibility for this attack. They have been active in Somalia since 2007. Recently, they have fought the Somali army for control in central regions.
This bombing is similar to an earlier attack this year. Al Shabaab also claimed responsibility for that bombing at Damaanyo camp in Mogadishu.
