Edmore Gwengwe, chairman of the Harare Youths Transporters Association (HAYTA), praised the new Trablabas Interchange. He believes it will greatly reduce traffic congestion in Harare.
The US$88 million project is at the intersection of Simon Mazorodze, Chitungwiza, and High Glen roads. Gwengwe called it a major breakthrough for transport operators on this busy route.
He noted that the old Mbudzi Roundabout caused severe delays. Drivers often faced two-hour waits during peak hours, leading to frequent accidents.
Gwengwe thanked President Emmerson Mnangagwa for supporting this project. He said drivers are now moving smoothly without long traffic jams.
He committed to maintaining the infrastructure for future generations. "We will ensure it is preserved," he stated.
Gwengwe also announced plans for a road safety awareness campaign. This program aims to educate drivers on safe driving practices and discourage illegal traffic lanes. He believes this will help protect both the roads and the new interchange.
