Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, is set to be charged for allegedly inciting the 2021 riots that left over 300 dead.

The unrest erupted after Zuma’s jailing, with violence spreading across KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

Prosecutors claim Zuma-Sambudla shared incendiary social media posts fueling the chaos. Her party, uMkhonto WeSizwe (MK), has called for mass support at her Durban court appearance on Thursday.

During the riots, she frequently posted “KZN, we see you” alongside images of destruction. Authorities previously noted her name in statements linked to the unrest.

President Cyril Ramaphosa called the riots an “attempted insurrection,” which caused massive looting and job losses. Zuma’s MK later gained 15% of the vote in national elections.
