Amelley Djosu: GTA represents all Ghanaians, not just NDC

Many NDC supporters are criticizing the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) online. This follows visuals of a partnership between Samini and the GTA.

This trend is concerning. Our creative industries already face many challenges. We should not let politics divide us in this space.

Ghana’s artists, media, and tourism promoters share a common goal. They aim to showcase our rich culture and vibrant identity globally. Politicizing institutions like the GTA weakens our collective brand. Creativity should unite us, not create conflict.

In a diverse country like Ghana, unity in creativity is essential.

For over two decades, Samini has embodied this truth. He started in Wa and has performed internationally in Europe and North America. He celebrates our languages, rhythms, and aspirations. As an Afro-Dancehall pioneer, he inspires generations of musicians.

His recent single “CHAANA” features the Grammy-winning Soweto Gospel Choir. It serves as a rallying cry for unity and pride. This song reflects his upcoming album ORIGIN8A, which highlights diversity through sound.

Samini's contributions extend beyond music stages. He acts as a cultural ambassador at national events and health campaigns. His journey connects farmers in Tamale with tech entrepreneurs in Accra.

The Ghana Tourism Authority must be seen as a national institution for all Ghanaians. When it supports artists, it should include everyone from every background. Promoting only artists aligned with one political party sends the wrong message. It alienates talented creatives and erodes necessary unity.

We should remember the success of campaigns like Year of Return and Detty December. These initiatives thrived because they included everyone without political bias. If the GTA had worked only with one party's affiliates, their impact would have diminished.

Unity enhances excellence rather than compromises it. Collaborations among artists lead to powerful results. Similarly, diverse talent supported by the GTA creates stronger messages.

Every sector of our creative ecosystem must work together: music, film, fashion, food, tourism, and digital content need shared goals.

We need transparent national institutions that operate fairly. The GTA should adopt clear criteria for selecting brand ambassadors and consult creatives across political lines regularly.

As a nation, we must mature politically and appreciate talent without partisanship.

Our creative economy can transform Ghana’s global identity while empowering youth and attracting investment—if we protect it from division.

Samini’s story shows what happens when talent is nurtured beyond party boundaries.

This issue goes beyond one artist; it's about setting a national tone. Political differences shouldn't cloud our appreciation for contributions to society.

We must choose unity over rivalry and progress over pettiness.

Let us support all artists who make us proud regardless of their views.

Together we can build a creative industry that truly represents all Ghanaians because unity is our greatest masterpiece.
