Borborbor deserves global recognition – Efadzinam Borborbor Band

The Efadzinam Borborbor Band is urging efforts to promote borborbor. This dance and music style is one of Ghana’s most vibrant traditions.

Lizabeth Akusika Bada, the band’s Public Relations Officer, spoke on EVIBES Musical Band series. She highlighted that borborbor lacks the recognition it deserves. Despite its cultural significance, many people overlook its beauty.

“Borborbor should be celebrated more widely,” she said. It originates from the Volta Region and is a beautiful cultural dance.

Borborbor is often performed at funerals and social gatherings. However, it represents much more than entertainment; it celebrates identity and heritage. Lizabeth believes limiting it to local events misrepresents its true value.

“It’s not just for funerals,” she explained. “This culture deserves global recognition.” The Efadzinam Borborbor Band aims to promote and preserve this tradition.

They want to introduce borborbor to larger audiences, especially youth. Through performances and education, they hope to elevate it as a cultural treasure.
