Harmonious Chorale returns home after historic 2025 West African tour

The Harmonious Chorale has finished its 10-day tour. The tour spanned three countries: Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. It showcased music's ability to unite cultures and celebrate Africa’s heritage.

The tour took place from April 25 to May 5. The choir blended classical, traditional, and contemporary African choral music. Audiences responded with standing ovations and emotional tributes.

In Togo, the choir performed Ewe masterpieces like “Esrom Miele” and “Eleagbe Lo.” They received a resounding standing ovation for their performance. Madame Marie-Josée Trenou praised the choir for promoting unity and empowering youth.

The sold-out Grand Rex Auditorium was filled with diplomats and local citizens. In Benin, the choir collaborated with La Chorale Paix Divine De Godomey. Their performance of “Oye” left audiences spellbound.

They also showcased French classical pieces like “La Nuit” and “Duo Des Fleurs.” A surprise birthday tribute to James Varrick Armaah electrified the crowd.

In Nigeria, Sir Olu Okeowo hosted an intimate evening of Yoruba hymns. Songs like “Agbo Ju O” moved the elite audience to tears. Gospel classics such as “My Help Comes from the Lord” were also performed.

The Shell Hall Grand Concert was sold out and featured a Nigerian-Ghanaian fusion. Songs included “Messiah Baba Mi” and the pidgin anthem “Una Hear Me So.” These performances had the audience on their feet.

Archbishop Dr. Daniel Okoh praised the choir’s mission at this event. He offered continued support for their vision moving forward.

Reflecting on the tour, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor shared his thoughts. He stated that it was more than just concerts; it was a movement for unity and progress in Africa.

Founded in 2007, Harmonious Chorale is Ghana’s premier gospel choir. Under James Varrick Armaah's direction, they have won multiple awards globally.
