Katy Perry felt 'battered and bruised' by backlash

Singer Katy Perry has shared her feelings after facing backlash from her recent space trip. She described herself as feeling "battered and bruised." Despite this, she reassured fans that she is okay and will "keep looking to the light."

Two weeks after her Blue Origin flight, Perry spoke out. The 11-minute journey included five other women. She mentioned that the "online world" tried to make her a "human Piñata."

Fans showed their support by paying for a billboard in New York. This was ahead of her upcoming world tour. Responding to a fan account that posted a video of the billboard, Perry expressed gratitude for her supporters.

Perry has been one of pop's most successful singers for two decades. However, public perception has shifted negatively over the past year. A poorly received album and its lead single faced criticism for being regressive.

She also faced backlash for participating in Jeff Bezos's all-female Blue Origin flight. During the flight, she sang Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" and displayed her new tour setlist on camera. Critics called it "tone deaf" given current economic struggles.

This week, singer Lily Allen apologized for being critical of Perry. Although she disagreed with the flight, she felt there was no need to join the negative commentary against Perry.

Some fans supported Perry by funding a digital billboard in Times Square for 24 hours. A Brazilian fan account explained they wanted to remind her that she is never alone.

The message read: “Our love for you is boundless and unwavering.” It continued with encouragement about her journey and promised support during her world tour.

Perry commented on the billboard, expressing gratitude towards her fans. She said: “I love you guys and have grown up together with you.” She added excitement about seeing them around the world this year.

Perry acknowledged that she is not perfect but is on a human journey. She stated that sometimes she falls but always gets back up again. Through challenges, she continues to look toward the light.

She remarked on how online negativity can affect people: “When the 'online' world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace.” She emphasized sending love because many people are hurting online.

The singer, known for hits like "Roar," "Firework," and "I Kissed A Girl," just started a world tour running until December. The tour will visit locations across North America, South America, Europe, and the UAE.

Perry expressed eagerness about connecting with fans each night during performances.
