Katy Perry felt 'battered and bruised' by backlash

Singer Katy Perry has shared her feelings after facing backlash from her recent space trip. She described herself as feeling "battered and bruised." However, she reassured fans that she is okay and will "keep looking to the light."

Two weeks after her Blue Origin flight, Perry reflected on the negative online reactions. She felt like the "online world" was trying to make her a "human Piñata." This flight lasted 11 minutes and included five other women.

In response to this criticism, fans supported her by renting a billboard in New York. The billboard was meant to show their love ahead of her world tour. Perry expressed gratitude for her fans, saying they are on a "beautiful and wild journey together."

Perry has been a successful pop singer for two decades. However, public perception of her has shifted negatively over the past year. Her latest album received poor reviews, and its lead single faced criticism for being regressive.

She also faced backlash for participating in Jeff Bezos's all-female Blue Origin flight. During the flight, she sang Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" and showed off her tour setlist on camera. Critics labeled this behavior as "tone deaf," especially during tough economic times.

This week, singer Lily Allen apologized for being harsh about Perry's actions. Although Allen disagreed with the space trip, she felt there was no need to join in on the criticism.

Fans rallied together to support Perry by funding a digital billboard in Times Square for 24 hours. A Brazilian fan account explained that they wanted to remind Perry of their unwavering love for her.

The message read: “We’re so proud of you and your magical journey.” It concluded with encouragement that she is safe, seen, and celebrated.

Perry commented on the billboard post with appreciation. She said she loves her fans and feels excited about seeing them worldwide this year.

She acknowledged that while she's not perfect, she's on a human journey through life’s ups and downs. Despite challenges, she continues to seek positivity.

Perry noted that when people online try to attack her, she responds with grace and love. She understands many people are struggling emotionally online.

The singer is currently on a world tour that runs until December. The tour will visit locations across the US, Canada, South America, Europe, and the UAE.

Perry expressed excitement about connecting with fans at each concert—singing together and feeling their warmth throughout the performances.
