Lyrical Joe expresses disappointment in losing out on TGMA Rap Performance award

Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe is disappointed. He did not win the Rap Performance category at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

He shared his feelings with DJ Slim and Doreen Avio on Dabreak Hitz. His disappointment comes from the effort put into his track '5th August 8'.

"Yeah, I was disappointed this year," he said. "Last year's 5th August caused me a lot of stress." He added that creating a 10-minute hip-hop video is challenging.

Lyrical Joe also mentioned he campaigns for the Rap Performance of the Year category. "Whenever I'm nominated, I campaign for it," he explained. His fans actively support him online to achieve the best performance.

Despite feeling let down, Lyrical Joe chose not to complain publicly. He believes there’s no good way to express dissatisfaction without seeming disrespectful to other artists.

"There’s never any clean way to complain," he noted. "You just leave it alone."

Lyrical Joe lost the Best Rap Performance award to Kwaku Smoke for his song 'Holy Ghost'. Other nominees included Eno Barony's 'Manual', Okyeame Kwame's 'No Competition', Sarkodie's 'Brag', and Flowking Stone's 'King is Back'.

In 2022, Lyrical Joe won in this category with his song '5th August 5'.
