Okraku-Mantey to release documentaries on his life and music catalogue  

Mark Okraku-Mantey, a respected music producer and politician, plans to document his works.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, he announced a documentary this year. It will focus on his musical achievements.

“This year, we are putting my hit documentary together,” he said. “Next year, I will do one about myself.” He expressed concern that his daughters may struggle to tell his story in the future. They know him mainly as a politician, but he wants to showcase his musical side.

Okraku-Mantey is the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture under President Akufo-Addo. He has a strong background in media and music production.

He began as a DJ in pubs before joining Joy FM. He was one of the DJs during the station's test transmission on May 1, 1995.

Before becoming Deputy Minister, he served as acting President of the Creative Arts Council. In this role, he engaged with creative practitioners nationwide to gather input for the Creative Industries Bill. He also organized monthly Masterclasses for industry players.

From February 2014 to March 2021, Okraku-Mantey worked as Programmes Director at Multimedia Group. His creative skills were evident in developing and promoting programs.

He ensured quality content and entertainment in TV production by collaborating with staff on various issues like budgets and casting glitches. Known for adhering to multimedia regulations, he resolved program log inaccuracies effectively.

Okraku-Mantey is also the CEO of Slip Entertainment (now Slip Mark Entertainment), established in 2006. At Slip Mark Entertainment, he produced hits for artists like George Jahrah and Nana Tuffour.

His production credits include Oheneba Kissi and Daasebre Gyamena among others. He also produced the successful Efiewura TV Series in 2001.

His multi-talented nature led him to organize notable events such as the MTN Music Festival in 2018 and Club Live from 2015 to 2018.

Beyond entertainment, Okraku-Mantey supports arts education for artists and creative practitioners. He coordinates activities between artists, organizations, government agencies nationally and internationally.

He has played a key role in growing Ghana's creative industry through partnerships that promote commercialization and innovation. He worked to remove barriers for market access within the industry.

Mark has served on several boards including Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Board and Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).

He completed his basic education at Datus Preparatory School from 1980-1986. Then he attended St Augustine's College from 1986-1993 for both ordinary and advanced levels.
