Otumfuo honours Kofi Kinaata with ‘Youth in Entertainment Award’ at Millennium Excellence Awards

On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, honored musician Kofi Kinaata. He received the ‘Youth in Entertainment Award’ at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Kofi Kinaata is known for his thought-provoking lyrics and socially conscious music. He stands out among entertainers who inspire society positively. His songs often tackle important societal issues. This has earned him a reputation as a voice for the people.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II previously praised Kinaata’s hit song ‘Susuka.’ He called it “full of wisdom” during the Ghana Bar Association's General Conference in September 2024.

This award comes just before the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards. Kofi Kinaata is nominated in several categories. These include Best Highlife Artiste of the Year and Best Highlife Song of the Year.

The Otumfuo Millennium Excellence Awards celebrate individuals contributing to national development. They highlight those who support underprivileged groups like the poor, widows, and orphans.

Other notable recipients included Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong. The ceremony also honored Dr. Nick Danso from Ghana Link Network Services.

President John Mahama attended as the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
