Isaac Dakwa, Director of Top Brass Ghana, announced a new Awards Scheme. The theme is “Accelerating Ghana's Economic Development Through Increased Intra-African Trade and Investment.” This initiative aligns with the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). It emphasizes that Africa can boost its development through trade among its countries.
The main goal of the Ghana-Africa Business Awards Scheme is to aid Ghana's economic recovery. It aims to maximize benefits from expanding trade and investment with other African nations. The scheme will honor businesses that significantly contribute to Ghana’s development.
Mr. Dakwa noted the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Its headquarters are in Accra, making this awards scheme particularly relevant now.
Typically, the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs serves as Guest of Honour. The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs presides over the ceremony. The event also features the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps.
Last year’s winners included several notable companies. Chanrai Brands Limited won for International Trade (Export). First Bank Ghana was recognized in Financial Services (Universal Banking). Letshego Ghana Savings And Loans Plc received an award for Investment Promotion (Financial Services). Other winners included Oro Oil Ghana Limited and Promasidor Ghana Limited, among others.
