Absa Bank Ghana Limited has launched the 2025 Absa Black Star Marathon.
This event is in partnership with the Black Star Marathon Foundation.
The marathon will take place on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
Participants will start and finish at Accra’s Independence Square.
The marathon aims to attract elite athletes and recreational runners.
It will also promote social engagement within the community.
Race categories include a full 42.2km marathon, a 10km race, and wheelchair races.
Nana Essilfuah Tamakloe is the Director of Marketing at Absa Bank Ghana.
She stated that the marathon celebrates personal achievement and social impact.
A significant portion of funds raised will support kidney dialysis treatment for underprivileged patients in Ghana.
This effort aims to raise awareness about kidney disease in the country.
Proceeds will also fund athlete development programs and community health campaigns.
Dr. Eric Kwame Adae founded the Black Star Marathon.
He explained that this event goes beyond athletic competition.
“It’s about pursuing a cause and celebrating resilience,” he said.
Professor Kobby Mensah from the Ghana Tourism Authority called it an important initiative.
He emphasized that integrity should be supported in such events.
Winners will receive cash prizes, finisher medals, certificates, and other rewards.
The 2025 Absa Black Star Marathon expects participants from across Ghana and beyond.
