Dr. Adu Owusu Sarkodie, an economist and lecturer at the University of Ghana, has expressed satisfaction with the 2025 Budget presented by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
He described it as a "stability budget," highlighting the GH¢10 billion expenditure cut and the absence of new taxes as measures that will help businesses grow.
Dr. Forson announced the removal of five "nuisance taxes," including the 1% Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) and 10% Betting Tax, to boost disposable incomes and business growth. However, Dr. Sarkodie suggested restructuring the E-Levy instead of scrapping it.
On the COVID-19 levy, he proposed renaming it rather than abolishing it, using the funds for health-related expenses. The budget aligns with the government's efforts to ease financial burdens while maintaining economic stability.
