Dr. Gideon Boako, MP for Tano North, has urged Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to present verified economic data in the 2025 budget. He emphasized that the Akufo-Addo administration left behind a strong economy worth GHS 1.2 trillion.
Dr. Boako cited Ghana Statistical Service data showing 5.7% GDP growth in 2024, the highest since 2020, with a declining debt-to-GDP ratio of 61.8%. However, Q4 2024 growth slowed to 3.6%, mainly due to weak industry performance. He accused the NDC of manipulating fiscal data to portray a struggling economy.
Dr. Boako insisted that the economy was rebounding before the NDC took over and urged the finance minister to focus on real economic progress rather than pushing a misleading narrative.
