Nhyiaeso MP Dr. Stephen Amoah and Tano North MP Dr. Gideon Boako have refuted claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government left behind a collapsed economy.

They cited a 5.7% GDP growth in 2024 and a reduced debt-to-GDP ratio of 61.8%, down from 80.4% in 2020, as evidence of economic stability.

Dr. Boako emphasized that the Akufo-Addo administration left a GHS 1.2 trillion economy and urged Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to present verified data in the 2025 budget.

Despite strong growth, Ghana’s economy slowed in Q4 2024 due to weaker industrial performance. The NPP maintains that their debt management strategy was effective, while the NDC insists they inherited a struggling economy.
