The Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has emphasized the urgent need to secure funding for Ghana’s second gas processing plant to ensure a stable fuel supply for power generation.
Kodzo Yaotse, ACEP’s Policy Lead for Petroleum and Conventional Energy, highlighted the rising trend of gas flaring over the past five years, leading to economic losses.
He warned that without adequate infrastructure, Ghana will continue relying on expensive and environmentally harmful liquid fuels. ACEP welcomed the government's plan to construct a second gas processing plant but stressed the need for swift funding to maximize its benefits.
Investing in gas processing will reduce waste, improve energy security, and lower costs. ACEP urged the government to act quickly to prevent further losses and fuel supply challenges.
