Dr. Humphrey Ayim-Darke, President of the Association of Ghana Industries, has warned that indiscriminate expenditure cuts in the 2025 Budget could hurt economic growth if not carefully targeted.

Speaking on PM Express Business Edition on February 20, 2025, he urged Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson to implement spending reductions strategically, noting that while cutting government expenditure is necessary to control the deficit, it must not stifle consumption-driven growth.

Dr. Ayim-Darke emphasized the role of Public-Private Partnerships in areas where the government can scale back and called for supportive policies to help struggling industries, review tax burdens, and sustain the Ghana cedi’s stability.

He also advocated decisive action against economic crimes, reinforcing the need for reforms that boost competitiveness without undermining growth.
