The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has expressed concern over the government's decision to increase the Growth and Sustainability Levy from 1% to 3% on the gross production of mining companies and extend its sunset clause to 2028.

Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson announced this in the 2025 budget presentation.

AGI’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Tsonam Akpeloo, warned that the levy’s extension would negatively impact industries, especially as they prepare for job creation under the 24-hour economy policy.

He noted that businesses had expected the levy to be removed by the end of 2024 and are now calling for urgent engagement with the government to reconsider the extension, citing financial strain and potential setbacks for industrial growth.
