The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George, has announced new measures to improve telecommunications in Ghana.
On Wednesday, April 9, he spoke to journalists about public dissatisfaction with mobile network services. He noted many complaints regarding the quality of service from all providers.
In response, Sam George approved technology neutrality for MTN Ghana. He also authorized the National Communications Authority (NCA) to provide additional spectrum to MTN and Telecel Ghana.
He stated that these actions aim to equip telecom providers with better tools. This will help them enhance their service delivery and overall quality.
The Minister warned service providers that the NCA will monitor improvements closely. He said penalties would be enforced for non-compliance.
“I wish to serve notice that the NCA will begin rigorous enforcement within three months,” he added. Failure to improve service quality could lead to significant fines for network operators.
