President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fulfilled his promise from the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2024 by granting executive approval for visa-free travel to Ghana for all African passport holders.
This initiative aligns with efforts to boost intra-African trade and mobility under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Ghana joins Rwanda, Seychelles, Benin, and The Gambia in offering visa-free entry to all Africans.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior are finalizing processes, with implementation expected by January 1, 2025. The move addresses barriers to travel within Africa, facilitating economic integration and cultural exchange.
Leaders like Aliko Dangote and analysts argue that easing travel restrictions is essential for Africa's growth and competitiveness. Ghana’s policy underscores its Pan-African legacy and commitment to unity.
