Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has criticized the failure of the Akufo-Addo administration to fully implement Ghana’s Public Financial Management (PFM) Act of 2016, calling it a major setback in economic governance.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express after presenting the 2025 Budget, he emphasized that while Ghana’s PFM framework is among the best globally, its lack of enforcement has led to financial mismanagement.
He stressed that instead of creating new laws, the government must strictly implement the PFM Act and apply sanctions to violators, both past and present.
Dr. Forson urged the Attorney General to act against those whose financial infractions have severely impacted the economy, warning that accountability must be upheld to prevent future mismanagement.
