Former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, has called on the government to consider amending laws that restrict foreign investments in sectors reserved for local enterprises.

Speaking at the inaugural lecture of the MountCrest Law Students Union, he stressed the need for Ghana's trade laws to align with the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

While acknowledging the importance of protecting local businesses, Atta Akyea emphasized that regional economic integration should take precedence.

He argued that Ghana's laws should not hinder the goals of AfCFTA, noting that for continental free trade to thrive, such restrictions should be removed, prompting a potential legal amendment.
