Apple is facing a new lawsuit accusing the company of illegally monitoring employees' personal devices and iCloud accounts, as well as restricting their ability to discuss pay and working conditions.
The lawsuit, filed by Amar Bhakta, a digital advertising employee, claims that Apple requires workers to install software on personal devices that allows the company to access personal data, including emails, photos, and health information.
Additionally, Apple allegedly enforces confidentiality policies that prevent employees from discussing work conditions or engaging in whistleblowing, even barring Bhakta from sharing details on podcasts or his LinkedIn profile.
Apple has denied the allegations, stating the claims lack merit and that workers are trained on their rights. This lawsuit follows other legal actions, including claims of gender-based pay discrimination.
The case is filed under a California law that enables workers to sue employers on behalf of the state, with a portion of any penalties awarded going to the plaintiff.
