Asutifi Rural Bank CEO calls for continued gov't support for local businesses

The Chief Executive Officer of Asutifi Rural Bank, Mr. Attiso Taata-Denke, praised the government. He commended the Ministry of Finance for stabilizing the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.

In an interview with CTV and Accra FM, he noted recent gains in the cedi's value. This appreciation has relieved local businesses. It has made it easier for traders to access loans and reinvest.

Mr. Taata-Denke urged the government to keep up this momentum. He wants measures that will further reduce the dollar rate. A stronger cedi will boost business growth and create jobs nationwide.

He said, “The drop in the dollar rate is encouraging." It helps business owners plan better and take loans for expansion. This will lead to more employment opportunities.

Regarding the financial sector, Mr. Taata-Denke acknowledged declining Treasury bill rates. However, he believes this trend isn't entirely negative. Lower rates may encourage more investments in businesses instead of short-term government instruments.

He described early 2025 as a positive time for Asutifi Rural Bank. He attributed this success to favorable government policies in banking. He is optimistic that this trend will continue through the second and third quarters of the year.
