Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has been elected Chairman of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), marking a significant moment for Ghana’s leadership in regional finance.

The announcement was made during the Bank’s 23rd Annual General Meeting in Banjul, Gambia.

Though absent, Dr. Forson’s message—delivered by Deputy Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem—expressed gratitude and Ghana’s commitment to driving economic transformation across West Africa.

Dr. Forson outlined a strategic agenda centered on improving capital mobilization, enhancing asset recovery, attracting new investment partners, and reinforcing EBID’s position as West Africa’s top development finance institution.

He called for unity among member states to turn challenges into growth opportunities. EBID currently supports over $400 million in projects across Ghana, spanning energy, banking, and infrastructure.

His election signals confidence in Ghana’s economic stewardship and commitment to regional prosperity through collaboration and innovation.
