The Takoradi Kokompe Branch of the Ghana National Association of Garages has expressed readiness to operate around the clock, provided the government ensures security and improves road access.

Regional Chairman Mr. Justice Aryitey stated that a 24-hour service would benefit vehicle owners by reducing downtime and boosting productivity.

However, he stressed the need for a police station and fire station, citing frequent theft and fire risks.

With enhanced security, the association plans to introduce overnight vehicle servicing, allowing customers to drop off their cars in the evening for next-day pickup.

Mr. Aryitey also called for emergency response lines along highways to assist with nighttime vehicle breakdowns.

He welcomed the government's engagement with the sector but noted that high import duties remain a challenge for businesses reliant on spare parts. The association is working to secure permanent land for its members while promoting skills development and job creation, particularly for women entrepreneurs.

Kojo Annobil, who led the ministry delegation, reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting local garages as part of Ghana’s automotive development policy.

However, concerns over salvage vehicle imports remain unresolved.
