Bishop Titi-Ofei shared the university's mission to tackle Africa’s leadership challenges through education. “We are here to release destinies,” he said, receiving applause. He believes this university will nurture a new generation of responsible leaders.
He referenced Judges 9 from the Bible, warning against capable individuals avoiding leadership roles. This leads to a societal vacuum filled by unworthy leaders, he cautioned.

Archbishop Charles Agyinasare delivered the keynote address at the event. He praised Bishop Titi-Ofei’s legacy and called for a new generation of visionary leaders.
He stressed the need for leaders who are both intellectually sound and spiritually grounded. Archbishop Agyinasare identified five key traits defining Bishop Titi-Ofei: transformational, charismatic, servant, ethical, and strategic leadership.
These qualities have made him an inspiration within and outside the church. Citing Matthew 28:19, he urged everyone present to embrace their roles as global reformers.
He described the University of Gold Coast as more than an academic institution. It is a “leadership altar” meant to produce reformers who will address Africa’s challenges wisely.
Baroness Arlene Foster was among the special guests at the event. She shared her personal journey of self-belief and academic success as the first in her family to attend grammar school and university.
She encouraged students to take charge of their futures with faith and resilience. Quoting Jeremiah 29:11, she reminded them that God has plans for their prosperity.
Baroness Foster outlined three principles vital for success: listening, learning, and leveraging passion. She advised students to seek wisdom from mentors and apply their passion for community betterment.
“Education transforms families, societies, and nations,” she stated passionately. She praised the University of Gold Coast’s renewed vision for empowering young people in Africa.
