The Bono East Regional office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has exceeded its revenue targets for four years. Mr. George Oppong Danquah, the Regional Manager, shared this information.
He noted that revenue mobilization has been over 95 percent during this time. Statistics from Accra show Bono East surpassed its targets from 2021 to 2024.
“We have been rated as the best performer in revenue mobilization,” Mr. Danquah said at a meeting in Techiman. He added that no region has outperformed Bono East since 2021.
Mr. Danquah praised the staff and stakeholders for their efforts. He also called for support to address challenges like co-payments and poor internet connectivity.
Additionally, he mentioned issues with water supply at the Techiman office. There is also a need for permanent offices in Nkoranza, Sene East, and Pru East districts.
Since 2021, the scheme has maintained a 93 percent active membership rate. Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, spoke about government plans to allocate oil proceeds to NHIS funding.
This funding aims to expand coverage and improve healthcare quality nationwide. It will help achieve Universal Health Coverage and benefit vulnerable populations in rural areas.
